The former Algerian president’s brother was arrested for corruption. The brother of Algeria’s ex-president Abdelaziz Bouteflika was found guilty of corruption and given a 12-year prison term.
Similarly, his brother’s adviser, Sad Bouteflika, was fined about $60,000 (£50,000).
Some of the most influential business people in Algeria’s history were found guilty alongside him and handed lengthy sentences.

Pro-democracy rallies in 2019 led to the resignation of President Abdelaziz Bouteflika, who has been convicted of promoting corruption throughout his 20-year administration.
The following year, he passed away suddenly.
