INEC promises that the 2023 elections will not be moved. Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, INEC chairman, has said categorically that the upcoming general elections would place as planned.

Yakubu made this comment casually when Brigadier General Yushu’a Ahmed, the current National Youth Service Corp Director General, paid a commission visit.

The head of INEC presumably responded to media stories and rumors of an election delay by being vague.

He said that members of the NYSC who have been called to duty in preparation for the election were guaranteed their safety.

He said that the commission was “fortunate” to have so many young people available for deployment in the polls but that no electoral commission anywhere in the world could hold an election only based on its workforce.

The new Director General of the National Youth Service Corps, Brigadier General Yushu’a Ahmed, has lauded the positive collaborative environment between the commission and the Service and reaffirmed the NYSC’s unwavering commitment to the conduct of fair elections in the nation.
